Switchboard Thermographer
Licensed Electrician? Swap Your Tools for a Career in Thermography & Property Risk Consulting
This is a hybrid role with a difference. We have an exceptional opportunity for a licensed electrician seeking a new challenge beyond traditional electrical work. Step away from installations and repairs and into a dynamic career as both an Electrical Thermographer and a Property Risk Consultant.

In this role, you will be instrumental in helping our clients mitigate risk. You'll hit the road full-time, conducting daily site visits to a diverse range of commercial and industrial properties across metro, regional, and interstate locations. No two days are ever the same. Your primary focus will be on inspecting electrical switchboards using thermal imaging and assessing broader property risks. You will be responsible for documenting your findings, capturing photographic evidence, and compiling high-quality reports with key recommendations for our clients.
If you enjoy being on the road and are ready to leverage your electrical expertise in a supportive, dynamic environment, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
· Conduct thermal scans of electrical switchboards of commercial, industrial and residential properties nationally, including metro, regional and remote locations.
· Prepare a comprehensive Electrical Switchboard Thermography Report, including findings, analysis, thermographic imagery and recommendations for risk improvement
· Conduct building inspections of mostly commercial and industrial properties around Australia
· Prepare detailed reports with findings, including building construction details, existing fire safety systems, and potential risk hazards, and recommend relevant risk improvement solutions.
· Build and maintain strong client relationships.
· Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes.
Essential Qualities:
· Current Australian Electrical Licence
· Experience in working with electrical switchboards
· Valid Australian driver’s license
· Ability to thrive with regular regional and interstate travel
· Adept communicator with strong technical writing skills for producing clear, concise, and accurate reports
· IT proficiency and eagerness to learn new software
· Ability to think on your feet, assess situations, and implement effective solutions
· A knack for building client relationships and consistently delivering exceptional client experiences
· Ability to excel both independently and collaboratively within a team
· Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
· Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or permanent residency status
· Ability to pass a National Police Check
Nice To Haves:
· Infrared thermography certificate (if not, we can assist)
· Prior property inspection experience
· Broad knowledge of building construction materials.
This position is ideally suited for someone eager to learn and seeking a career change. While certification as a thermographer is an advantage, it is not essential. We welcome applications from all licensed electricians who possess strong transferable skills and a passion for learning about the insurance risk surveying field. We provide comprehensive technical training, mentorship, and certification support to ensure your success.
